RE: Home Remedies -- Please post yours!

If you happen to splash through some wet concrete and it stays and dries on your car, use lime away to remove it. Raw aluminum will shine with regular flour and some elbow grease. Spraying Pam cooking spray under your mowing deck will help prevent grass buildup under your mower deck.

RE: Soda Maker

We used to have a soda maker when I was a child. Got it from the Schwans delivery truck. Complete kits with the bottles and syrup. The co2 tanks were the expensive part and eventually Schwans dropped them. They just gave us an address of the company but we just stopped using it. Was great though for making new "unheard of" flavors. Kids will have a good time with it.

RE: Towing MPG

Its just what you are going to get on most trips I have a Sierra with a 5.3 and see up to 12 pulling my 30ft Futura.(weighs around 6000 lbs) Without the camper I get 17. One secret is babying the gas pedal. I go faster than some of my friends but it does take a while to get to the speed. And no cruise. Would love to use it but its not worth it. Also found ethanol kills the milage as well. In Iowa its the cheaper gas and 89 octane but once I get out of state I go for the 85 octane thats straight gas. It helps some.

Good luck Randy. Sounds like something my parents should do too. Maybe you could talk them into going as well.

RE: College Football Games Today!

Gonna go out and do some tailgating this a.m. in Iowa City and cheer on the hawks!! I want to see the Hawkeyes slide up the polls a little farther. Hope they don't let their guard down against Indiana.

RE: insulating the underbelly

I understand the woes of the low slung rv. Our current one sit very low to the ground and it drags all the time. The FW, however is already much higher. I would also plan on splicing into a heat line and pumping some furnace air into the compartment. I have looked at what some companies call enclosed underbellies and it is little more than just a thin sheet of expanded plastic screwed on from side to side. I would hope to do a little more than that. I like the spray on insulation idea. Would still cover it though the keep the weather out.

insulating the underbelly

Has anyone tried this? I like the looks of a particular FW thats for sale but the tanks are not insulated. Just wondering how difficult it would be to build more frame and enclose them so they wouldn't freeze when we use it in cold weather. They do hang down below the frame a bit so I guess bolting on frame extensions and some sort of insulating sheets would work. Has anyone else ever done this?

RE: Would you buy this Ford Vehicle?

I quick cheap Turkish made product that has a small amount of competition considering the height of cargo area. I'm sure the height has something to do with the decreased milage. When I first looked into one of these I couldn't help thinking that soon someone will make a conversion model of this.

RE: How many nights out this year

I think we only missed three weekends from around the first of April till the second week of Oct. Spent a week going out to Ohio and back. Went to Wisconsin for a three day weekend. And spent most of the rest locally. I would rather be in my camper than at home, there are less chores!

RE: rv mat sale

Actually they are not supposed to kill the grass. We and friends camp on grass most of the weekends throughout the summer and it never effects the grass. Actually, to be fair, I don't have one yet but what I do have is a piece of a dewatering press belt from where I work. Same thing but heavier. Heck, the grass can grow through it. No grass has died during the use of this mat!!

RE: Wisconsin Fall Rally October 9th - 11th 2009

I hope everyone has fun. We are going to stay around here this year. I think DW wants to do something of her choice for her birthday this year. hehe (it may still involve camping, or tailgating for this weekends football game.) We just got done with camping and racing or waiting for racing in the rain. Three days of rain and no action. Got it all in last night and got home around 12:30 this morning. (I have been running getting things cleaned up in he camper since I got home from work.) Racing was good but I didn't like having to wait around while Tony Stewart got done in Kansas City and then flew up to Knoxville. I wish he would have stayed down there!! oh well. Well, have fun everyone!!!

RE: Letters from Son in Basic Training! VIDEO 10-6-09 (pg 16)

My father in law just wrote a book about his experiences in going through Basic, EOD and touring South Viet Nam. Called XUC MAY, (Never Happen) he calls it a rambling of my everyday life while serving in an EOD unit in South Viet Nam. I was rather surprised that he wrote a book, he just doesn't seem like the type, although he does watch and read anything to do with the Niet Nam war, and is more than willing to talk about what happened and tries to encourage others to share their experiences as well. I know it has taken several years for him to get this written. We just got ours in the mail only yesterday. He is selling them for something like 20 bucks and all the profits will go to Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation based in Fredericksburg, Va. He, Gary Pool, has been somewhat thrown back by the response so far, only having ordered 100 initially and already having sold 75 of them. Keep it up Aaron, and if you can think of a really good convincing way to get my son to do the same, I'm all for it!!

RE: CB antenna????????????

I have a Wilson 'Lil Will' for my pickup, my articulated truck at work, and a couple of loaders at work. They seem to work fine and don't cost a fortune. ($27.00) As far as length, we have done a couple on my supervisors' truck that are "assembled" from parts bought from a radio shop in the area that also does most of the radios for the police and the owner gave us a generic mast and said to cut it to 47.25 inches for optimum performance.

RE: Suggestions to fix water heater

The green wires that are the ground inside the access panel may have been corroded. This is what we just found out on a friends Atwood WH. We had put a fan in front of it many times (outside) and after about an hour it would work. Only found out later it was a ground connection on that little screw on the exhaust duct inside the access panel. I have the gas/ele dsi model and the connection on the circuit board sometimes has poor contact. I just pull it off and clean the terminal and make sure the connection is dry and it works.
